I don’t often use taxis, as I live in a very small village and have a bicycle and a car. When I guide tours abroad, however, I sometimes use taxis and it always surprises me that they seem to have their own distinct ‘taxi smell’. It’s like a mixture of stale beer, cigarette smoke, oil and vinyl.
